First quarterly turnaround from loss to profit! Has XPeng reached a turning point?
As the filing deadline approaches, BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm, submitted its fourth-quarter 13F filing with the SEC on February 12 local time, covering holdings as of December 31, 2025.
According to WhaleWisdom data, Blackrock significantly increased its positions in Nio and XPeng Motors' US stocks in the fourth quarter, while slightly reducing its holdings in Li Auto's US stock.
Excluding options, Blackrock increased its holdings of Nio's US shares $NIO Inc (NIO.US)$ by 3.3759 million shares, with the position size growing 153% quarter-over-quarter to 5.5827 million shares, reaching a new high since the third quarter of 2024. However, due to a 33.1% drop in Nio's share price during the period, the total market value of Blackrock's holdings in this stock increased by 69.3% quarter-over-quarter to $28.472 million.

Blackrock first purchased Nio's US shares in the first quarter of 2019, holding only 231,000 shares at that time. Since then, the position size has increased every quarter, peaking at over 66 million shares. After a significant reduction in holdings in the third quarter of 2024, Blackrock’s position size in Nio's US shares dropped from tens of millions to millions.
Among institutions disclosing their 13F filings for the fourth quarter, Blackrock ranks ninth in terms of its position size in Nio's US shares. By comparison, in the previous quarter, Blackrock ranked 27th among all institutions reporting holdings of Nio's US shares.
For XPeng Motors and Li Auto, Blackrock had different approaches to its holdings in the fourth quarter. During the reporting period, Blackrock increased its holdings of XPeng Motors' US shares $XPeng (XPEV.US)$ by 779,800 shares, with the position size growing 37% quarter-over-quarter to 2.8721 million shares; combined with a 13.4% decline in the company's share price during the period, Blackrock’s holdings’ market value increased by 18.8% quarter-over-quarter to $58.246 million.

In the fourth quarter, Blackrock reduced its holdings of Li Auto’s US shares $Li Auto (LI.US)$ by 61,400 shares, with the position size decreasing 7% quarter-over-quarter to 826,200 shares; combined with a 33.2% decline in the company’s share price during the period, Blackrock’s holdings’ market value decreased by 37.8% quarter-over-quarter to $13.987 million.

Based on the share price and position size at the end of the reporting period, XPeng Motors occupies a much larger proportion in Blackrock's portfolio compared to Nio and Li Auto.
As of the end of the fourth quarter, Blackrock's total market value of holdings increased by 3.6% quarter-over-quarter to 5.9 trillion US dollars, with the top ten heavyweights including NVIDIA, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google accounting for 30.41% of its investment portfolio.
