On January 3rd, Nio$NIO Inc (NIO.US)$announced the delivery numbers for December 2020 and the full year. The data shows that Nio delivered a total of 7,007 new vehicles in December, an increase of 32.4% month-on-month, setting a new high for the brand's monthly delivery volume for the fifth consecutive month; a year-on-year increase of 121.0%, achieving a year-on-year doubling for the ninth consecutive month since April this year. As a result, Nio's total annual delivery in 2020 reached 43,728 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 112.6%.

NIO Inc.'s three on-sale SUV models all delivered impressive results in December. The new asia vets flagship SUV ES8 was delivered 2009 units, setting a new high in delivery volume since its listing; the asia vets all-around SUV ES6 was delivered 2493 units; and the asia vets coupe SUV EC6 was delivered 2505 units, also setting a new high in delivery volume since its listing, and continues to lead the high-end coupe SUV market.
In the fourth quarter of 2020, NIO delivered a total of 17,353 units, an increase of 42.2% quarter-on-quarter and 111.0% year-on-year, exceeding the upper limit indicated in the previous financial report. For the full year of 2020, NIO delivered a total of 43,728 units, a year-on-year increase of 112.6%, with a total of 75,641 units delivered since June 2018.
In 2020, NIO continued to invest in core technology research and development, leading business model innovation, successively launching the navigation assistance function NOP (Navigate on Pilot) based on high-precision maps, the 100kWh long-range battery, the Battery as a Service (BaaS) and flexible battery upgrade solutions. At the same time, NIO newly built 49 battery swapping stations and 80 supercharging stations in 2020, with a total of 172 battery swapping stations and 100 supercharging stations built in China, providing users with a better pure electric travel experience.
Thanks to excellent product experience, outstanding quality performance, and innovative service models in 2020, NIO achieved record-high delivery volumes month after month. NIO's cash reserves have exceeded 40 billion RMB yuan, providing a solid backing for core technology research and development and service experience upgrades.
Nio Inc founder, chairman, and CEO William Li said: "2020 was a challenging year for the whole world. However, Nio's sales reached a new high, surpassing 70,000 units in December. This is all thanks to the increasing market recognition of Nio's high-end brand, the strong competitiveness of Nio's products and services, the expanding sales network, and most importantly, the unwavering support from users. The Nio battery rental service BaaS was well-received. After the launch of the 100 kWh battery, BaaS car purchase model accounted for over 40% of new orders in December, demonstrating the outstanding competitiveness and user acceptance of this innovative business model."
He also added: "The fourth Nio Day will be held on January 9, 2021, where we will unveil a brand new sedan and the latest progress in core technologies such as autonomous driving. The theme of this Nio Day is 'Always Forward', symbolizing staying true to our original aspirations and continuing to move forward. We will continue to invest in the core technologies of smart electric vehicles, accelerate the development of new products, expand our sales and service network, and strive to bring ultimate full-cycle user experience to our growing cohort of users in 2021 and beyond."
