On August 22, Beijing time, Baidu released the Q2 2024 financial report, showing a quarterly total revenue of 33.9 billion yuan, Baidu's core revenue of 26.7 billion yuan, Baidu's core operating profit of 5.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 23%, exceeding market expectations.
Baidu's founder, chairman, and CEO Robin Li said, "As time goes on, the revolutionary impact of generative artificial intelligence and foundational models on business society and daily life becomes more and more significant. Thanks to the full-stack AI technology advantage and the rapid popularization of AI applications built on the Wenxin large model, we are expanding the scale of AI implementation to address real-world problems and create tremendous value for external customers and internal products."
Baidu's CFO Rong Luo said, "In the second quarter, as the speed of AI-native transformation of products accelerates, we optimized operational efficiency and maintained a healthy profit margin. In particular, for the intelligent cloud business, we expect to continue strong growth momentum."
The financial report shows that Baidu released the Wenxin large model 4.0 Turbo in June to expand the richness of the Wenxin series models. Compared to the Wenxin large model 4.0, Turbo is designed to run faster and at a lower cost. Recently, Baidu also reduced prices of its two flagship models Wenxin large models 3.5 and 4.0, and made ERNIE Speed, ERNIE Lite, and ERNIE Tiny models available for free.
