Back-to-back victories and zero disengagements: WeRide’s one-stage end-to-end technology dominates the autonomous driving scene
On January 11, in the China Intelligent Driving Competition - Wenzhou Station, organized by D1EV.com, a long-established Chinese new energy and intelligent driving media outlet, Chery Exeed E03, empowered by WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD, HKEX: 0800), a world-leading autonomous driving technology company, and Bosch, a top-tier global automotive supplier, once again clinched the championship following their victory at the Taizhou Station.
Exeed E03 utilizes WeRide’s one-stage end-to-end technology and continued its first-class performance in this competition. It was the only model among all participating vehicles to achieve 'zero disengagement' throughout the entire race and also completed the race in the shortest time. Its final score was nearly 10 points higher than the second-place finisher, demonstrating an overwhelming lead.
The China Intelligent Driving Competition - Wenzhou Station followed the mature format of 'preliminaries + finals' used in the Taizhou Station. For multiple models equipped with the same ADAS solution, the model with the highest preliminary score advanced to the finals; other ADAS solutions selected one of their main popular models to enter the finals directly.
After the preliminary rounds, the Momenta-powered Zhiji LS6, XPeng G9 from the XPeng ecosystem, Huawei-backed Avita 12, as well as Chery Exeed E03, Jiyue 01, Exeed ET5, WEY Blue Mountain, Xiaomi SU7, Li Auto i6, Zeekr 7X, and Nio ET5T formed a 'multi-solution finals lineup' representing the cutting-edge of current intelligent driving technologies.
The 28-kilometer course of this final was akin to an 'all-scenario extreme test,' covering diverse and complex urban and mountain road conditions. The route included frequent high-stakes scenarios such as uncontrolled roundabouts and consecutive U-turns, testing the system's precise prediction of surrounding vehicles’ intentions and smooth coordination. It also ventured into narrow roads within commercial districts and residential communities, achieving millimeter-level precision during encounters in mixed pedestrian-and-vehicle environments. Moreover, an extreme mountain pass section with consecutive sharp turns and steep slopes was added for the first time as the 'ultimate challenge' to comprehensively assess the system’s real-time responsiveness, stability control, and adaptability across all scenarios.
Ultimately, Chery Exeed E03, powered by WeRide and Bosch, stood out and extended its winning streak in intelligent driving competitions, retaining the championship with an outstanding score of 111 points.
Winning two consecutive events is not only proof of strength but also an inevitable result of WeRide's continuous dedication and systematic refinement in technological advancement. This repeat championship winconfirms the leading position of WeRide's one-stage end-to-end assisted driving solution on a global scale.
WePilot 3.0 is the culmination of WeRide's comprehensive breakthroughs in single-stage end-to-end large models, system-level integration capabilities, and software-hardware synergy. Compared to traditional multi-module solutions, WePilot 3.0 uses a single-stage end-to-end AI large model that integrates perception, prediction, and planning control, enabling vehicles to maintain consistent strategies and smooth decision-making in complex and dynamic environments worldwide. It also boasts stronger generalization capabilities and safety redundancy, easily handling interactions among vehicles, pedestrians, other cars, and road infrastructure in complex traffic scenarios.
In terms of architecture design, WePilot 3.0 combines high flexibility and scalability, supporting both multi-modal sensor fusion perception and pure vision. It can adapt to high computing power platforms or quickly adjust to medium- and low-computing power platforms through model distillation. By decoupling the algorithm layer from hardware and basic software layers via middleware, it modularizes L2-level assisted driving functions for rapid deployment and mass production.
Moreover, the system relies on continuously growing real-world driving data to automatically generate training samples, expanding its coverage and understanding of edge cases and long-tail risks. This closed-loop evolution mechanism allows the system to optimize continuously at a lower cost, delivering an experience where the system becomes 'better with frequent use,' truly advancing intelligent driving toward continuous learning and upgrades.
Currently, WePilot 3.0 has entered mass production in the Exeed Eternity ES and ET models. In the future, it will also be pre-installed in more mass-produced models from partners such as Chery and GAC Group, allowing global consumers to enjoy more reliable and efficient L2+ advanced assisted driving features at a more affordable price.
