The 30,000 tons of FBR granular silicon production capacity that was put into production at GCL's Xuzhou base in the early stages has fully met the requirements of N-type silicon wafers and has been steadily improved. The comprehensive electricity consumption is 14.8 kWh/kg, and the comprehensive steam consumption is 15.3 kg/kg. In October 2021, after obtaining the first granular silicon carbon footprint certification certificate in China, GCL also obtained the first granular silicon carbon footprint certification issued by the French Environmental and Energy Control Agency, proving that the carbon footprint value for each kg of granular silicon produced was 37.000 kg carbon dioxide equivalent, greatly setting the lowest global record of 57.559 kg carbon dioxide equivalent previously set by German company Wacker in a high hydropower environment.

The silicon material produced by GCL Technology in 2021 can reduce carbon emissions by 44.67 million tons/year for the construction and operation of photovoltaic power plants. If calculated based on the 25-year life cycle of the module, the cumulative carbon emission reduction exceeds 1.1 billion tons. Based on the calculation of the world's new installed capacity of 183 GW in 2021, all applications of FBR granular silicon will reduce the world's excess carbon emissions by more than 20 million tons.
The successful commissioning of the Xuzhou base granular silicon project has laid a solid foundation for the construction and commissioning of the company's bases in Leshan, Baotou, Hohhot, etc., while providing downstream customers with more high-quality, high-quality granular silicon products with a low carbon footprint. More importantly, GCL will form a low-carbon photovoltaic industry chain based on granular silicon low-carbon silicon-based materials, help the energy industry to further decarbonize, and promote the global clean energy revolution in the context of “carbon peak” and “carbon neutrality”.

Against the backdrop of global energy shortages and ultra-high carbon emissions from fossil energy, GCL's granular silicon with low cost, high efficiency, and low carbon footprint has become a key epoch-making silicon energy product made in China that affects the world.
At present, GCL Technology has planned to build multiple 100,000-ton granular silicon production bases in Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, and Jiangsu respectively, forming a “three-legged” pattern. The total silicon production capacity will reach 360,000 tons during the year, including 260,000 tons of granular silicon. The company has orders for more than 700,000 tons of silicon, and production and sales can be seamlessly connected and quickly linked.
2022 will be the first year when GCL Technology officially starts large-scale production of granular silicon, providing strong support for the photovoltaic industry chain to achieve faster and efficient production and accelerate the low-carbon transformation of the global energy industry.
