On May 23, 2026, Nio completed the delivery of the 110,000th all-new ES8 in Nanjing. Since deliveries began on September 21, 2025, the all-new ES8 has reached this 110,000-unit milestone in just 245 days. Only one month ago, the all-new ES8 set a new record as the fastest-selling premium passenger vehicle priced above RMB 400,000 in China to reach 100,000 deliveries. Just one month later, it has already achieved another 10,000-unit delivery milestone, further solidifying its dominant position in the segment.

Mr. Cao, recipient of the 110,000th all-new ES8, was previously an owner of a traditional luxury mid-to-large-size gasoline-powered sedan. He stated that his decision to switch to the all-new ES8 was driven not only by its poised yet dynamic design but also by the vehicle’s exceptional safety standards and Nio’s flexible battery charging and swapping ecosystem. Mr. Cao specifically highlighted the convenience of Nio’s three-minute battery swap—offering rapid energy replenishment without long waits—and noted that it truly matches the hassle-free experience of refueling a gasoline car, completely alleviating his concerns about range and charging. In April 2026, retail sales of Nio's all-new ES8 reached 13,020 units, securing the top spot nationwide for large SUVs and vehicles priced above RMB 400,000 for the fifth consecutive month. In Jiangsu Province, the all-new ES8 has also ranked first among large SUVs for five consecutive months and has led the Nanjing market in its segment for six consecutive months. In April 2026, retail sales of the all-new Nio ES8 reached 13,020 units, securing the top spot nationwide for five consecutive months among large SUVs and vehicles priced above RMB 400,000. In Jiangsu Province, the all-new ES8 has also ranked first in large SUV sales for five consecutive months and led the Nanjing market in its segment for six straight months. Across the entire Yangtze River Delta region, the all-new ES8 now commands nearly 50% market penetration in the large SUV segment—meaning one out of every two large SUVs sold is an all-new ES8. According to market data, in April, the all-new ES8 ranked first in both the large SUV and RMB 400,000-plus vehicle segments in nine of Jiangsu’s 13 cities, including Nanjing, Suzhou, and Changzhou.

According to the latest data from China Automotive Terminal, in April 2026, sales of all-electric three-row SUVs reached 28,498 units, plug-in hybrids totaled 22,353 units, gasoline models stood at 17,731 units, and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) recorded 15,305 units. All-electric models remained firmly in first place across all powertrain types, while EREVs have now fallen to last place. Since overtaking EREVs in September 2025, all-electric three-row SUVs have consistently outsold EREV counterparts for eight consecutive months, becoming the clear mainstream choice for consumers—a structural shift in the market that is now irreversible. Current trends indicate that all-electric three-row SUVs, represented by the all-new ES8, have entered their golden era.

On May 21, Nio released its Q1 2026 financial results. The company reported an operating profit of RMB 66.8 million, marking its second consecutive profitable quarter. In the Q1 earnings call, William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of Nio, stated, 'In the first 20 days of May, orders for the all-new ES8 hit a new high since November last year. The all-new ES8 has successfully crossed the 'valley of death' often associated with post-launch demand drop-off. Even after fulfilling the initial backlog of orders, new orders remain at a relatively high level.'
