InnoCare Pharma (HKEX: 09969; SSE: 688428) today announced the completion of the first patient enrollment in China for its self-developed novel TYK2 inhibitor ICP-488 Phase II clinical trial to treat cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE).
ICP-488 is an orally administered, highly selective TYK2 allosteric inhibitor that specifically binds to the TYK2 JH2 domain, blocking signal transduction of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-23, IL-12, and type I interferon, thereby suppressing pathological processes associated with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
CLE is a common form of lupus erythematosus and falls under autoimmune diseases, primarily manifesting as skin lesions. Its characteristics include diverse skin damage, and a small number of patients may progress to systemic lupus erythematosus, affecting internal organs. To date, there are no globally approved drugs specifically for treating CLE, representing a significant unmet clinical need.
Dr. Cui Jisong, co-founder, chairman, and CEO of InnoCare Pharma, said, 'Patients with cutaneous lupus erythematosus have long suffered from the disease, and there is an urgent clinical need for safe and effective innovative therapies. We will fully advance the clinical development of ICP-488 to bring better treatment options to patients as soon as possible.'
Currently, InnoCare Pharma is advancing clinical trials of ICP-488 for multiple autoimmune diseases. The Phase III registration clinical trial for psoriasis has completed patient enrollment, while the Phase II clinical trials for CLE and Sjogren's syndrome are ongoing. Other indications and combination therapy strategies are also under evaluation.
