Nasdaq is pleased to announce the results of the public consultation on updates to the Nasdaq-100 Index®. The public consultation period opened on February 2, 2026, and concluded successfully on February 27. After considering feedback from market participants, Nasdaq Global Indexes has approved updates to the Nasdaq-100 Index rules, which will take effect on May 1, 2026.
Nasdaq Global Indexes regularly reviews index methodologies through established governance processes. Feedback received during this consultation provided important input for the final decision. After comprehensive evaluation, Nasdaq decided to proceed with adjustments outlined in the 'Summary of Responses and Conclusions.' The updated index framework will be implemented starting May 1, 2026.
IndexKey revisions include
Introducing a 'Fast Entry' mechanism for mega IPOs;
Optimizing the weight calculation method for companies with restricted free float;
No minimum free float requirement will be imposed, but adjusted market capitalization will be used in weight calculations, constraining the weighting of securities with low free float.
The current framework will remain in effect until April 30, 2026. Nasdaq Global Indexes will release implementation details via standard index announcement channels prior to the effective date.
