The China Insurance Automotive Safety Index has released its latest evaluation results, with Nio's new ES8 achieving top ratings in all five categories. Specifically, it received the highest rating of G+ for occupant safety index, vehicle-assistance safety index, and pedestrian safety index. The new energy vehicle specific index also achieved the highest rating of G, while an excellent rating of G was given for crashworthiness and repair economy index. Overall, it leads among three-row pure electric SUVs in terms of comprehensive safety.
The 2024 revised CIRI testing and evaluation procedure is widely regarded as the 'strictest ever' set of evaluation standards within the industry. Compared to the previous version, the difficulty has significantly increased, imposing higher requirements on occupant protection, pedestrian protection, assisted safety, and even safety evaluations for new energy vehicles. Nio's new ES8 achieved full top ratings under these more rigorous evaluation standards, demonstrating the high value of its active and passive safety systems.
