Insilico Medicine (03696.HK), a clinical-stage biotechnology company driven by generative artificial intelligence (AI)announced today that it hasentered into a strategic drug development partnership with ASKA Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (ASKA), a Japan-based pharmaceutical company specializing in internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology.to leverage Insilico Medicine’s self-developedAI-driven target discovery engine PandaOmics, focusing on challenging gynecological diseases such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and adenomyosis, identifying and exploring innovative targets with drug development potential.

ASKA is one of the long-term partners of Insilico Medicine's AI software platform. This collaboration further deepens research and development efforts, focusing on the development of next-generation therapies for women's health.
Gynecological diseases have long faced challenges such as difficult diagnosis, limited treatment options, and a heavy disease burden.Affecting hundreds of millions of patients worldwide.According to estimates by the World Health Organization, endometriosis affects approximately 190 million women globally, while the patient populations for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis are even larger. These conditions often occur concurrently, severely impacting women's reproductive health.
Through this collaboration, the two parties will combine ASKA’s deep expertise in gynecological treatments with Insilico Medicine’s leading AI-driven biological analysis capabilities, focusing on addressing significant unmet medical needs affecting hundreds of millions of patients worldwide and accelerating the development of innovative solutions. Under the cooperation agreement, Insilico Medicine will be responsible for using PandaOmics to discover and propose disease hypotheses, while ASKA will validate AI-predicted drug target candidates with therapeutic potential.
This collaborative research project will be led byDr. Ying Pan, Head of Greater Bay Area at Insilico Medicine, and her target discovery team. Recently, the team announced the launch of the TargetPro target identification framework, which accelerates therapeutic target discovery by integrating disease-specific models and multimodal data. TargetPro can interpret contextual background, refine predictive patterns, and thus screen out the most promising targets for advancement into clinical stages, with overall performance surpassing existing target identification models. In addition to validating known clinical targets, TargetPro can also nominate novel, highly druggable candidate targets, providing better options for efficient preclinical validation.
Dr. Ying Pan, Head of Greater Bay Area at Insilico Medicine, stated,“It is an honor to lead this collaborative research with ASKA. We believe that AI can provide actionable insights and perspectives in the field of gynecological diseases with highly complex biological mechanisms; this potential has been further confirmed by the progress achieved in preclinical validation of AI-nominated endometriosis targets. With the recent release of Insilico Medicine’s disease-specific TargetPro model, we look forward to partnering with ASKA to develop next-generation innovative therapies that benefit women patients worldwide.”
Dr. Shuzo Watanabe, Head of Innovative Drug Discovery at ASKA, stated,“We are very pleased to have reached this collaboration with Insilico Medicine. ASKA is committed to leveraging AI technology to drive the entire R&D process, thereby accelerating drug discovery. We anticipate that this collaboration will efficiently identify high-quality, high-potential drug targets.”
Notably, ASKA is one of the long-term partners of Insilico Medicine's AI software platform. This deepened research and development collaboration will be based on the proven AI methodologies of both parties, focusing on complex biological challenges related to diseases such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and adenomyosis. It aims to outline a clearer path for the development of next-generation therapies, reflecting the shared commitment and aligned goals of both parties in promoting women’s health.
