[NN Investment Insights] The "Lobster Raising" Craze Sweeps the Tech World! Understand in 5 Minutes How OpenClaw is Transforming the AI Ecosystem

Guest of this episode: Financial commentator - Jason Wen
Everyone is talking about 'raising lobsters' – what exactly is it?
Recently, a new greeting has emerged in the tech community: 'Have you raised your lobster yet?' The 'lobster' here does not refer to the small lobsters found at seafood stalls in the market, but rather OpenClaw, the open-source AI agent that gained popularity earlier this year. Due to its logo featuring a red lobster, people affectionately call it 'lobster,' and the process of deploying and training OpenClaw is referred to as 'raising lobsters.'
What makes this 'lobster' remarkable is that it doesn't just answer questions like a typical chatbot, but can act as a personal assistant, directly executing tasks for users—such as organizing data, sending emails, managing schedules, and more. In other words, training OpenClaw to become your automated assistant (i.e., an AI Agent) is what is meant by 'raising lobsters.'
How can one 'raise a lobster'?
To successfully 'raise' a well-behaved lobster, you first need to assign it task capabilities, configure application programming interfaces (APIs) or relevant tools, and then continuously train it so it gradually becomes familiar with your work and lifestyle needs. After a period of adjustment, this AI agent can handle various tasks and execute commands on your behalf, becoming a true personal digital assistant.
However, it's worth noting that OpenClaw’s stability and accuracy still need improvement, and there is still a long way to go in terms of development. Especially in the mainland market, companies tend to promote products through heavy subsidies, which, despite attracting many users, may not necessarily lead to profitability after significant subsidy reductions. The gap between these expectations and the hope for AI to deliver steady returns remains, requiring continued observation going forward.
The 'lobster' craze enters Hong Kong's stock market
The trend of 'raising lobsters' has spread from the tech community to the stock market. Research indicates that the emergence of OpenClaw marks a new era in the AI industry, transitioning from 'interactive dialogue' to 'autonomous execution.' Coupled with better-than-expected earnings reports from several U.S.-listed AI companies, AI has once again become a key growth driver for Hong Kong-listed technology stocks.Amid this stock market boom, multiple segments of the AI industry chain in Hong Kong stocks have benefited, including upstream hardware, computing power leasing and cloud services, model layers, as well as applications and ecosystem layers—offering no shortage of investment opportunities worth exploring.
Expert Analysis: NVIDIA is the top choice for US stocks, while Hong Kong stocks should watch out for the 'hidden gem.'
When discussing US stocks that stand to benefit, experts said the first choice remains $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$Driven by the 'lobster concept,' future demand for computing power will undoubtedly continue to rise, and when it comes to computing power, chips are indispensable. NVIDIA currently holds about 80-90% of the GPU market share, solidifying its dominant position. The next step for NVIDIA is expected to involve launching related services at the AI Agent application level, advancing product deployment from top to bottom and further strengthening its competitive edge.
However, experts also reminded that NVIDIA’s stock price has largely fluctuated between $170 and $200 over recent months. Even with better-than-expected earnings, the stock hasn't seen a significant breakout; even the GTC conference failed to trigger an immediate surge. Additionally, the current U.S. market shows stronger interest in 'HALO' (High Assets Low Obsolescence) type stocks, meaning tech stocks may not be the short-term focus of speculation. Therefore, investors are advised to take a mid-term perspective (around six months) when deploying their strategies instead of expecting ‘buy today, rise tomorrow.’ Aggressive investors can dip their toes in now but must manage expectations carefully.
As for Hong Kong stocks, experts specifically mentioned $KB LAMINATES (01888.HK)$ might be the 'hidden gem' within the AI concept. Its products like glass fiber, glass cloth, copper foil, and PCB printed circuit boards have fully benefited from the entire AI concept. Although the stock price has risen significantly recently, coupled with a pullback due to a share placement announcement, experts believe that any stock price correction presents a good opportunity for medium- to long-term entry.
