Key Schedule Highlights
CME Sharply Increases Margin Requirements for Gold and Silver; Caution Needed Over Liquidity Risks Triggered by Strong Deleveraging in the Precious Metals Market
CME Again Sharply Raises Margin Requirements for Precious Metals Futures: Gold Margin Rate Increases from 6% to 8%, Silver from 11% to 15%; New Rules Effective After Market Close Next Monday.
This adjustment follows the previous reform of the 'floating margin' mechanism, highlighting the exchange's intention to accelerate deleveraging and risk control amid extreme volatility.Market fears a repeat of historical scenarios where 'exchange interventions lead to crashes,' as seen in 1980 or 2011.
The US will release nonfarm payrolls data on Friday.
The January nonfarm payrolls report will be released on Friday, February 6.The market expects an increase of about 60,000 to 80,000 jobs. However, Bloomberg Economics warns that actual growth may unexpectedly weaken due to adjustments in statistical methods, forecasting only around 15,000 new jobs, with an unemployment rate of approximately 4.4%. If the data is weak, it could again spark market speculation about rate cuts. Additionally, the ADP Employment Report for January in the US will also be released on February 4.
Michael Reynolds, Vice President of Investment Strategy at Glenmede, stated: "Due to last year's U.S. government shutdown, we have lacked a clear observation of the labor market and inflation conditions, so the upcoming data may be more important than usual."
