Hong Kong-listed AI 'twin leaders' see active trading! How to position in the AI sector for the Year

On January 15, the three major indices of Hong Kong stocks collectively retreated. By the close, the Hang Seng Index fell by 0.28%, the H-share Index dropped by 0.52%, and the Hang Seng Tech Index declined by 1.35%.
Looking at sectors, the AI healthcare and internet medical care sectors, which have recently been favored by capital, are undergoing adjustments.. Among them, $XTALPI (02228.HK)$ Plummeting 10.74%,$ALI HEALTH (00241.HK)$ Dropping 7.84%,$FANGZHOU JIANKE (06086.HK)$ Falling 5.75%, iFlytek Healthcare Technology (02506.HK) dropped 6.18%, Ping An Good Doctor (01833.HK) fell 4.88%, Yidu Technology (02158.HK) declined 3.92%, BioRay Pharma-B (02315.HK) fell 3.89%, and MicroPort Surgical Robot-B (02252.HK) dropped 3.79%.
Other technology sectors such as SaaS concepts, short video concepts, leading tech stocks, cloud offices, cloud computing, AI applications, and mobile gaming stocks all declined across the board.Among them, Kingdee International (00268.HK) fell 8.09%, Maifushi (02556.HK) dropped 6.63%, Weimeng Group (02013.HK) fell 6.18%, Mobvista Technology (01860.HK) fell 5.1%, Inspur Digital Enterprise (00596.HK) dropped 5.05%, NetEase-S (09999.HK) fell 3.18%, and Kuaishou-W (01024.HK) dropped 2.93%.
In terms of travel stocks,Trip.Com-S (09961.HK) plummeted 19.23%, while Tongcheng Travel (00780.HK) plummeted 8.24%. On the news front, on January 14th, the State Administration for Market Regulation officially launched an investigation into Trip.com Group Limited for suspected abuse of dominant market position to implement monopolistic practices. JPMorgan stated that over the next six months, Trip.com's valuation could be pressured by regulatory uncertainty.
In other areas,Holiday concepts, education, film and television; power equipment, biomedicine, innovative drugs, and other sectors also faced pressure and weakened.
On the gainers list, the optical communication concept sector performed strongly against the trend.Among them, Wontech (01729.HK) rose by 8.89%, Cambridge Technology (06166.HK) increased by 7.75%, and FIT HON TENG (06088.HK) climbed by 5.96%.
In terms of news, Taiwan Semiconductor announced that its capital expenditure plan for 2026 will reach up to $56 billion, a significant year-on-year increase of 37%, setting a new historical high for the company. Institutions noted that the demand for AI computing power continues to expand, and the optical module industry's prosperity remains on an upward trend, bringing opportunities to all segments of the industrial chain.
Real estate stocks showed active performance. Vanke Enterprise (02202.HK) surged by 6.85%, Jin Hui Holdings (09993.HK) rose by 5.35%, Sunac China (01918.HK) increased by 3.45%, Greentown China (03900.HK) gained 2.53%, and Longfor Group (00960.HK) went up by 2.39%. In terms of news, on January 14, in order to continue supporting residents in improving their housing conditions, the Ministry of Finance, the State Administration of Taxation, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the 'Announcement on the Continuation of Personal Income Tax Policies Supporting Residents in Exchanging Housing'.
In the automobile industry chain, sectors such as lithium batteries, Tesla concept stocks, automobile stocks, and automobile dealers saw widespread gains. Ganzf Lithium (01772.HK) surged by 7.66%, Tianqi Lithium (09696.HK) rose by 4.77%, CALB (03931.HK) climbed by 4.44%, BYD Electronics (00285.HK) increased by 3.26%, Nexteer Automotive (01316.HK) gained 2.16%, and LK Technology (00558.HK) rose by 2.62%.
In terms of news, the 'Shanghai High-Level Autonomous Driving Leading Zone “Model Speed Intelligent Travel” Action Plan' was implemented. Additionally, on January 14, three departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a meeting, demanding resistance to disorderly 'price wars', legally handling non-compliant enterprises, and guiding the industry to shift from 'price competition' to 'technology and quality competition', benefiting leading automakers and core component companies.
