太陽能汽車Sono上市暴漲150%,新能源汽車持續火熱!
German solar car SONO GRP NV was listed on NASDAQ yesterday under the ticker SEV, soaring 154.67% on its first day, with a market capitalization reaching $2.639 billion at the close. Berenberg acted as the underwriter for this transaction.

Business Overview
The solar car developer SONO GRP NV was founded in 2016 by four friends in a small garage in Munich, focusing on developing and commercializing disruptive solar technology.
The company is currently developing a model called Sion—a purely electric vehicle integrated with solar cells. The vehicle has a range of up to 305 kilometers and can be charged through solar energy or traditional power outlets. Sono expects that under suitable conditions in Germany, solar energy could potentially add up to 245 kilometers (152 miles) of additional range per week.

Sion is currently in the pre-production phase, with the company having launched its final prototype in January 2021. It has conducted over 18,000 test drives across 65 European cities and plans to start delivering the Sion in the first half of 2023.
The company plans to produce 257,000 units of the Sion, and it is reported that Sion has already received over 16,000 orders with deposits, equating to approximately 300 million euros in net sales.

During the development of the Sion, Sono gradually discovered that current solar technology is not suitable for mobile applications. Traditional solar technology relies on glass to cover solar cells; however, glass is heavy, inflexible, expensive, and poses dangers in the event of a collision, which presents challenges for automotive applications.
Sono is researching lighter polymers that can be flexibly integrated through a patented injection molding process, enabling rapid, cost-effective, and lean production while avoiding the risk of passenger injury due to glass breakage.

Meanwhile, SONO GRP NV is preparing to license and sell its proprietary solar technology to other manufacturers, including buses, trucks, campers, trains, and even boats, which will also help accelerate the transition of public transportation towards sustainable mobility.
Financial Overview
The company has not yet generated any revenue. For the six-month period ending June 30, 2020, the loss was €9.8 million, while for the six months ending June 30, 2021, the loss amounted to €25.7 million.
