At the beginning of the new year, the battle of new energy vehicles has already begun.
Over the past year, in the current global tense supply chain situation, new energy vehicles from various brands have achieved record sales, the domestic market landscape is taking shape, and economies of scale are beginning to emerge. According to the latest forecast by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, sales of new energy vehicles in 2021 are expected to reach 3.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 1.5 times; while in 2022, sales of new energy vehicles are projected to reach 5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 47%, expected to account for around 20% of total vehicle sales.
In the new year, the tapering of financial subsidies has led some new energy vehicle brands to start competing through price increases. With the launch of multiple models by more car companies this year, market competition will only intensify. However, challenges such as chip shortages and battery supply chain issues still present a grim outlook.
At the same time, more new forces in car manufacturing are constantly emerging. The latest news reveals that consumer electronics giant Sony has officially announced the establishment of a mobile travel company to enter the electric vehicle field, and Wanda is also rumored to be venturing into car manufacturing across industries.
