According to a report by the New York Times citing sources familiar with the matter, the Trump administration is preparing to announce a series of trade investigations on Wednesday, paving the way for new tariffs on imported goods after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected its tariff agenda. The trade investigations will be conducted under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 and cover issues such as digital service taxes and alleged currency manipulation. U.S. Trade Representative Griler stated that the investigation targets include some of America's largest trading partners, such as the EU, India, Japan, and South Korea, among 16 trading partners. The Trump administration also plans to launch another independent investigation as early as Thursday, involving regulations prohibiting the import of goods produced using forced labor, which is expected to cover at least 60 countries. Previously, the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed Trump’s global tariff policy. It is reported that the U.S. trade department will continue to conduct more investigations in the future.
