On May 25 EST, according to foreign media reports, a new filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) showed,Elon Musk increased his equity commitment for the Twitter acquisition to $33.5 billion, influenced by this news, $Twitter (Delisted) (TWTR.US)$the after-hours share price surged over 5%, while $Tesla (TSLA.US)$it fell by about 1%.
It is reported that a filing on May 24 showed that Musk added another $6.25 billion in equity financing, bringing the total equity commitment in the $44 billion deal to $33.5 billion. Additionally, Musk is negotiating with other investors, including Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey, to assist in financing or rolling over their shares to complete the transaction.
An earlier article from Wall Street noted that previous acquisition agreement announcements indicated that around $13 billion of Musk’s financing would come from financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley, with an additional $12.5 billion obtained through a mortgage loan secured by his Tesla shares.
